Carl began playing drums in his hometown of Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. Over the years, he took lessons with several well respected local session drummers and instructors that stressed the importance of playing musically.  In 1996 he relocated to the Seattle, Washington area and has been working and teaching here since.

Carl has been busy laying down grooves for a wide variety of artists in different settings and styles for many years. As a result, he has developed a diverse resumé - his list of playing credits including many original bands. Most recently however, Carl has been working with Mary McPage and the Assassins.  This is a lively musical environment – often veering into funk and harder edged rock - with blues as its base.  Mary has been a favourite in the area’s blues scene for years, leading with a strong voice and contagious enthusiasm.  Her new incarnation (the Assassins) features Berklee educated Willy Straub on guitar and often called upon Seattle bass man, Patrick McDanel. The musical directions that this band travels are diverse and entertaining.
Rock solid, Supportive, and Musical

Carl’s strong reputation as a sideman also makes him a likely selection for artists that need a musician to sit in or record with. For years now Carl has been on the roster at Thumper Custom Drums currently based in California.  When he is not gigging Carl is teaching the next generation of young drummers at the 4/4 School of Music.  He is also available for private instruction in drums and guitar.

Whatever the gig, Carl’s passion is evident.  In the words of one of the many people he has worked with Carl is, “…an absolute joy to work with.”
